LITHUANIAN CULTURE

Programs of Lithuanian folk culture incorporate lessons in folk art, songs, dances, history, geography, literature, and current events.  The sessions conducted in Lithuanian support the actual language fluency, while during the heritage sessions, the program incorporates Lithuanian words and phrases relevant to the events of the day.  The cultural program, emphasizes a hands-on experience, fosters understanding and love for Lithuanian heritage.

CHRISTIAN VALUES

Surrounded by the glory and peace of a beautiful natural environment, campers participate in liturgy (Roman Catholic), various forms of prayer, and faith discussions, which provide for spiritual growth. The spiritual program is reinforced by the Christian values fostered in daily living.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

Living away from home, assuming responsibility for one‘s self, participating in group activities and being challenged by creative programs, foster individual character and social development. Each person‘s growth is encouraged within a safe, supportive and stimulating environment.

Staff

The staff members are chosen for their experience in working with children as well as knowledge of Lithuanian culture and Neringa values. Cabin counselors are at least 18 years old and work together with the program team, the camp chaplain, and the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception–all of whom are an integral part of the staff.

Daily Schedule

Each day begins with prayer, breakfast and clean up. After the flag raising ceremony, the campers are involved in various activities mentioned below until noon. After lunch, there is a free time followed by swimming in the Neringa pond, snack, and further group activities. Dinner and flag lowering are followed by an evening program which varies according to the theme of the day; sometimes the program is serious, sometimes it is humorous and playful, but, as with all Neringa activities, always aims to be meaningful.
